There are many things we love about the property. Location- on the snow line and well above
the scorching heat of summer, the untouched nature and rich history.
Some highlights we value about the property and surrounding land’s history begins in 1868, when
there was a gold mine here. The venue site’s largest pond was a natural pond that was enlarged
when miners hand dug it out, so it could hold enough water to feed the milling sight down lower
on the property, so it could crush the ore and extract the gold.
Fast forward to the 1920’s when the land was converted into a lumber mill. ‘New’ machinery came
on the scene at that time enabling saw mills to be more productive. That meant enhancing the
pond yet again; for the steam engine. In 1936 the large incinerator was erected and still stands as
a relic to days past. We’re very proud of the rich history this land tells stories of and love
sharing such a beautiful antique as an unique photographic location.
In the 1970’s the mill closed down and from then on the land and pond has been resting and
reviving to create its own eco system.
Since buying the land over 20 years ago, its been our privilege and honor to work with the land
and wild life. To be stewards and retain as much as we can and yet capture something we only
dreamed could come true, without taking away. It’s taken years and a labor of love, but what we
see surpasses what we had hoped for.

My husband is a native to Tuolumne county and has always loved the outdoors. Working
alongside his dad on the property where he grew up, included helping his dad enhance and
maintain their family pond as well as many construction projects that included creating ponds on
other properties. Including working with Barbara at Union Hill to create her pond and then later
to install the pond fountain that’s still active. It’s been a delight for him to hone his skills and
bring his experience to this property too.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve enjoyed watching my mom work with brides. She was an incredible
designer and seamstress. That was her passion, making bridal gowns and dresses for the entire
bridal party and she enjoyed her work until she passed away. Seeing how happy she was
creating for brides left a mark with me too. Though my career has lead me down different paths, it
strikes me ironic that years later I ended up kind of stumbling into the wedding world. But for
me, as a grower and supplier of plants, herbs and flowers. Somehow I found myself doing side
jobs first supplying florals and then doing the floral arranging myself! From table arrangements
and boutonnieres to doing all the bridal party florals. And I enjoy it immensely. So much so that
I looked into doing that for work. But, that’s not where my heart is.
My husband and I have run a custom furniture business for 7 years. Both of us are artisan
crafters and love working with our customers to bring their vision to life with handcrafted items.
**Our 5 star reviewed shop speaks to how much we enjoy working with people. That’s our desire
now, to work to create a vision for our clients’ wedding. Something unique and tailored just for
them. Because that’s who we all are; unique individuals who want to share a piece of who we are
Since our marriage in 1995, Toby and I have enjoyed working together, gardening and
landscaping the properties we’ve owned. Putting to use our skills in construction, farming and
ranching to beautify our acreage.

And now with our children old enough to help and learn alongside us, its a joy to work as a family to share this land as a venue for you.
We enjoy the journey thoroughly and hope you will too!
